Foot odors occur when bacteria begins to grow and expand. In order for bacteria to grow it needs 3 things:
Moisture. Heat. Food.
The heat comes from the foot being on the footbed/ in the shoe. The moisture comes from the perspiration our bodies give off naturally. Finally, within that perspiration, are amino acids that the bacteria feeds on which is essentially the food, which ultimately leads the bacteria to grow larger while exhausting such a foul odor.
To start, we recommend spot cleaning with a soft cloth using mild detergent like Woolite and cool water. Use the detergent to hand wipe. Then, with a damp cloth, wipe any excess soap remaining. Finally, let the air dry. Do not dry in the sun.
